We had our yearly Vacation Bible School session a few weeks ago. This year we had planned to have it in a Hindu dominated area where I used to go for door to door work and open-air meetings, but things have unfortunately changed due to the present Government. I was told not to have the VBS as some were planning and getting ready to oppose us and to disrupt the gathering.
Nevertheless, Praise God for He is so good that He enabled us to hold the VBS on the roof-top of Asha Kendram, where we gather on Sundays these days. We were thrilled to see more than 50 children coming to attend the VBS right from 9am. It was led by a few members from Child Evangelism Fellowship. God worked through them and they were able to inspire the kids and challenge them to taste and know the Lord at their young age and surrender their lives to Him. At the end, many took a decision to live for the Lord! It was heartening to see God at work even among the little ones, who are to be tomorrow's witnesses for Him.
Delicious food and prizes were given to all those who attended. As it happens every year, the children did not want to go back despite the scorching heat. This was an all the more special occasion for me as it was the 50th birthday of my spiritual life! I was led to do a little more for my Saviour before the day drew to a close and therefore in the evening I stood in a public place and shared the Gospel with my testimony on how the Lord transformed my life in1968 and how He carried me through thus far - He has done nothing but good for me!
Please pray for the Children who accepted the Lord in this VBS, and for those who listened to my testimony that they may think of what they heard and desire to know this saving, living God!
Attached a few photographs for you to see and praise the Lord with us.
In Christ's service
On March 3, we had a blessed Worship service after which we were strengthened by the Lord to host a blessed and fruitful medical camp. It was something we had been praying for a while now and our Lord brought it to pass at the right time! A believer-doctor had expressed his willingness and interest to help us with the event, rendering his service and with the necessary medical supplies for the camp - God bless him. It was a great opportunity to connect with the locals who had come, and to plant the seeds of Gospel in their hearts. You can see a few photographs from the camp attached.
At the close of the camp, I had the joy of meeting a Hindu lady by the name of Nisha – I shared the Gospel with her and she was willing to listen. She decided to visit us again to hear more about Jesus and His great, life-giving love.
Since then, it was my earnest prayer that Nisha may come to know Jesus as her savior and God.
March 10 marked my 50 years in the Lord, after I had my re-birth in Christ in 1968. Having left my home and family where I was brought up as a Hindu, at the age of 18, He has been more than faithful and has been there with me every step of my Christian journey. The Lord called me from darkness into his marvelous light and I am thankful to Him that He has been using me to spread the love and grace that came seeking me while I was a sinner, to those who are lost. As a token of my gratitude and thanks-giving, I had a great desire to lead a soul to the Lord on this very special day in my life. The Lord indeed granted me my desire, as on this auspicious day, Nisha called me while I was on my way to a place called Thalayar. Although I was not very well physically, my spirit constrained me to go. Her call was indeed a confirmation to me that she was a prepared soul, and that the Lord had chosen me to be a soul-winner! With this divine confidence the Lord gave me, it was easy for me to lead her and I presented her to the Lord. I met her, and spent some time with her sharing the Good News of the Gospel, and in prayer. Tears rolling down her cheeks, Nisha accepted the Lord – Praise God! Needless to say, this was the best gift I could ask for on my Christian birthday, and my heart wept with joy!
Nisha is broken-hearted in terms of her family life, as her husband who is a devoted Hindu priest (Pujari, as they are called), gives her a very hard time. She is not at all happy in her family life. We have given her hope in Jesus, and offered her solace in the fact that Jesus is able to change her situation altogether.
Please join with me in bringing Nisha to the Lord so she can grow in her faith and stand faithful to the Lord. May the change in her bring about a change in her husband as well. Also, please remember the many who attended the medical camp so that they may think of the divine love which prompted us to reach out to them in that manner, which can in turn lead them back to us to us to learn about the loving savior that Jesus is!
Greetings in our soon-coming Savior’s mighty name! We send our heart-felt gratitude and fondness to you for having been with us in our humble ministry in Kerala - both through prayers and through material support which have been an immense strength for us. We trust in the Lord that you and your beloved are safe in the arms of Jesus and that you are being led according to His will. We continue remembering you in prayers ask that Heaven's blessings may be showered on you as we tread through in this desert-journey, homeward.
I am thrilled to share with you the story of a 90-year old man – Ramayyer, who is disowned by his children. I met him on one of my morning walks and brought him home for breakfast. As a matter of fact, I now see him almost every day and hand over a little help for a cup of tea and snacks. One of these days, I brought him again to Asha Bhavan with me. At the Home, on that day, I shared the Gospel with him and encouraged him to look for that beautiful Glory land that outshines the Sun. Praise God that he prayed with me, and was led to the Lord at this prime age! I thank my God that he was able to hear of Jesus and of an Eternity he could have with Jesus. After he was fed and a little pocket money was given, I took him back. The joyous and encouraging fact is that he wants to see me every day. When I go for my walks down the street, he would be sitting by the roadside – these are his words; “I cannot, but see you”. This is what he had to say further – “I have God and you to help me”.
Photographs of our conversation with Ramayyer are attached for you to see.
Biju & Athira
One more couple joined the Lord’s family recently through our ministry here as God is using me these days drawing people to His fold. Praise God! The couple’s names are Biju and Athira. A Christian friend of mine, Sreejesh, had asked me to contact them, as they had worked for him in his resort. I spoke to Biju, the husband and he committed his life to the Lord. He is now bringing Asha, his wife as well to Ashabhavan, for fellowship and to listen to the Gospel. Leela is prayerfully sharing the Gospel with her and at His time, we trust that He leads her as well to Him. Please remember them in your prayers as well, as they are interested in coming for the Worship meeting on Sundays.
I am excited and at the same time humbled that people are turning to Jesus as I am burdened to share Him with them before it is too late - the anti-Christian rulers are making things very difficult for us these days. Please stand with us in intercession for the furtherance of his kingdom in this part of the world.
1 Thessalonians 5:24,25 - The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it. Brothers, pray for us as well.
Yours in His service
Paul & Leela
